Find A Friend in the Market
January 29, 2010
Do you know who your friends are? The old market adage is that "the trend is your friend". That's true no matter how sophisticated a trader you are. It's true whether or not you use astrology as a part of your trading toolkit. An awareness of the prevailing trend will help your trading no matter what you trade: stocks, bonds, options, futures contracts, Forex, or the latest exotic derivative. But sometimes it's tough to figure out exactly which direction a trend is going-- whether it's because of an inability to decipher mixed market signals, a failure to take multiple time frames into account, or simply forgetting that markets can move sideways as well as up or down. But as soon as you've gotten clear about what you think the current trend is, you're instantly in a position to realign your trading accordingly. Sometimes that's all it takes to give you a winning edge. Even though following a trend can be profitable, however, it's even more important to remember how dangerous it can be to ignore a trend. For example, if the price of a stock is going down and you hang on as you keep looking for a reversal to the upside, you're quite likely to let small losses turn into big ones. ============================================================

An Accurate Forecast of a History-Making Market Event
While solar eclipses have a powerful impact, sometimes even just a Full Moon can be important for the markets, too! That was certainly the case on September 15, 2008--the date that marked the nearly complete collapse of the financial system and the start of a massive drop in the stock market. Of course, with the tools of financial astrology it was possible to anticipate this effect before it happened, and that's exactly what I did when I was interviewed on the Commodity Classics show the week before that momentous event, warning viewers that I was looking for "an extremely strong downward move in the markets around the time of the Full Moon" on September 15, adding that my downside price target for the S&P "could be a way station on the path to a much larger move downward" as we headed into the Fall.
