Pay Attention to the Spring Equinox
March 19, 2010
When former U.S. President Bill Clinton spoke at the annual Gridiron Dinner in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, he joked that the Spring Equinox was "otherwise known to Al Gore as proof of global warming."
Clinton's line got a good laugh, but for astro-traders, the Spring Equinox is no joking matter.
Of course, as an astro-trader, you're sure to be watching for planetary ingresses in general, those occasions when planets move from one zodiac sign to another. Ingresses are times of change, and they signal the potential for change in the markets as well-shifts in trend direction, variations in trading volume, or major realignments of trading sentiment.
But among all the planetary ingresses, the passages of the Sun into the cardinal points of the zodiac at the equinoxes and solstices, marking the first days of Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter, are the most important. And among those four cardinal ingresses, the Spring Equinox carries the greatest weight.
From an astrological perspective the Spring Equinox marks the start of the year, and because of its extraordinary importance in astrological timing, it was given a great deal of attention by W. D. Gann in his approach to the markets.
So pay attention the Spring Equinox as you put together your trading plan. It adds the kind of extra energy that can build a fire under a rally, expand a market unexpectedly, or trigger a key reversal.
Whatever you're trading, it's something to keep an eye on!
